Hosaka Family Dental

Technology

Dr. Hosaka and his staff at Hosaka Family Dental is your Smyrna dentist that is up to date with the latest technology to give you the best dental treatment.

Intraoral Camera

Intraoral cameras let you see what Dr. Hosaka is seeing.

Our intraoral camera is a small camera in the shape of a handheld wand. Our tooth wand can take high-resolution digital color photos of your teeth.

One of the main goals of Dr. Hosaka is to educate you about your mouth. He will identify and show you things, such as cavities, fractures, tooth wear, tartar, and gum issues.

Digital X-Rays

All x-rays taken at our office are digital x-rays. Digital x-rays allow us to see the image of your teeth immediately. Dr. Hosaka can adjust the contrast on his computer to identify problems such as cavities in between teeth and tartar underneath the gums.

Our digital panoramic x-ray machine allows us to see areas of your jawbone, jaw joint, and sinus areas that are normally not visible with the detailed x-rays. This allows us to do preventative screenings for problems that may not show up in the detail x-rays and also to see the wisdom teeth.

Digital x-rays produce a much lower amount of radiation than film x-rays, about 70 percent less.

Big-Screen TV in Each Room

Dr. Hosaka uses a large television monitor at your dental chair to you x-rays and photos of your teeth. He also educates patients about dental conditions and treatments using diagrams and videos displayed on the screen.

During your dental visit, you can relax and watch tv or a movie. Don’t forget to bring the popcorn… just kidding, that would make Dr. Hosaka hungry!

Nitrous Oxide

Also known as “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is available for patients who wish to be extra relaxed during dental treatment. Nitrous oxide is an odorless gas you breathe in through a soft mask that surrounds the nose. The gas has a pleasant effect when breathed in, making most people feel calm, happy, and mellow.

We can precisely control the amount of gas you get to make sure you are as relaxed as possible. After the procedure is finished, the gas and its effects quickly wear off after a few minutes, and you will be completely back to normal. You will be able to drive home after your visit.

Hosaka Family Dental is continually updating the office technology and studying the latest dental techniques in order to give patients the best dental care.
