The pandemic has required us to put many aspects of our lives on hold, but don’t let your dental health be one of them. Just like the overall health of our body, our oral health needs regular maintenance and prevention.
The good news is that most dental problems start out small and the solution is usually simple. These small problems, if left alone, can grow bigger, resulting in more complex and costlier treatment. We want to help you prevent or catch problems before it leads to pain or loss of teeth. That’s one of the goals of your regular checkup and teeth cleaning appointments.

Taking Steps to Keep Our Dentist Office in Smyrna, GA Safe
At Hosaka Family Dental, we have been taking steps to keep our office safe for all patients and staff.
The first step of the safety plan starts before your appointment. We are monitoring all staff members daily for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19, including checking our temperature for fever and flu-like symptoms. Staff members wear a mask during the entire day.
All patients are screened before coming in for their appointments and at the time of their appointment, including a temperature check with a contactless forehead thermometer. We are asking any patient who is having flu-like symptoms or may have come into contact with COVID-19 positive persons to reschedule their appointment.
We have a protocol in place to minimize contact between patients, and to reduce the risk of germ transmission. There is a sanitizing station set up at the entrance of our office. Patients are asked to use the hand sanitizer and wear a mask while in the waiting room. We have opened up a secondary waiting room to ensure social distancing. There is a designated entrance door and a separate exit door to allow for a one-way flow.
As an extra precaution, we have placed HEPA air filters in the waiting room and each patient treatment area. These filters are always on, filtering the air within each patient treatment room.
These extra precautions are in addition to the thorough sanitizing procedures we have followed since before the pandemic. The patient treatment room is wiped down with hospital grade disinfectant after each patient. Dental instruments are individually wrapped and sterilized in a sterilizing oven called an autoclave. The autoclave is regularly tested to ensure that it is working in good condition. Our dental water lines use a special water filter that uses the same technology developed for NASA to ensure that water is safe from germs.
